What Members Thought
Thought provoking exploration of the age-old idea that power corrupts, even when it transfers hands to the once marginalized, in this case the female population. Taking a zoomed-out view of the global shift, the book follows a handful of main characters who navigate the change. It was far more ambiguous a message than I expected, but thoughtfully and responsibly so.
Once there was a lightning and ice storm in the small town I lived in in college. I remember looking out the window watching what looked like explosions of fireworks, as one by one all the electrical boxes in town exploded by the combined shock of the electricity and ice. Reading this felt the same. There is so much to digest here, so much to process and so much wisdom to glean, that I don't think one reading alone can suffice.
