I have NEVER been so happy to be done with a book until I read this one. This was the worst book I have ever in my life read. I thought The Hazel Wood was the worst book until I read this one. It's never taken me a month to read a book before. This books was a STRUGGLE to get through. The only reason I didn't DNF it was because Youtubers I respect said it was so good so I was holding out for the good parts.....OMG I will forever trust my gut on a book.

3.5 Stars - I really love the way Erin Morgenstern writes and I loved most of this book but toward the end it got confusing to me and I had a hard time keeping up with the story. The last third of the book coincided with the beginning of a really weird time for me: buying a house that needed quite a bit of work, moving, getting another house ready for market, the beginning of this freaky pandemic, other schtuff... I think my mind may have just not been able to process the story line as well with ...more

I received this as a birthday gift so that caused me to read it when I didn't plan to - after hearing my sister hated it. I liked it ok and I wanted to like it more than I did. It didn't really have a plot and it was hard for me to care enough to pick it up again when there are so many other distractions in the world. Finally I started reading it daily more than 6 months after starting it, and reading it on vacation helped me to push through.
