I want to read this metaphorically dense story again before posting a full review. For now I will say that the narrator exists in a limbo of dream-like death obsession that feel very much like drug addiction/withdrawal. The narrator also dwells in division of self, the self as deadly enemy with whom he is constantly wrestling, and projecting those various selves onto the actual people in his life.
