The Author gives himself a year to travel around the shipping forecast in the order in which they are mentioned in that forecast. Many are remote, tiny settlements, some area have no land mass. They have varying economies with a reliance on fishing. His journey is told with humour and a whole host of interesting facts including how the forecast is produced and broadcast. He has a real understanding of the people and the harshness of their live. I really enjoyed this
