Triggers: NPD parent, sexual abuse, mental and emotional abuse
So this book....
I have 2 parents with NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) so this book hit so close to home. All the baits, gasslighting, twisting, lies, pretending and laughs were so familiar. It was hard to read at times. I am non contact with mine for a few years so I could be ok with it. If you are still in that situation and aren't on the road to recovery I would not attempt to read it yet.

This was a quiet, heart-breaking, beautiful book just like our protagonist Kiko. What she goes through is just so sad you want to curl her up in a hug and never let go. Jamie is also a realistic character. I like that he got frustrated and sometimes annoyed with Kiko's anxiety because I think people who don't suffer from anxiety can't understand the depths of it and do get frustrated and a ...more
