What Members Thought
Of all the books, articles etc. that I have read so far, I find Allie's description of depression the one to which I can relate the most. For this alone, I'm giving this book 5 stars. I think her ability to translate thoughts and observations with such crisp and unembarrassed honesty is really terrific. It's somewhat ironic (though perhaps not) that someone so steeped in shame is able to express her inner workings with an amazing level of exposure and vulnerability.

Confession: I kind of knew that this book wasn't going to be for me. I have seen Brosh's blog over the years and have been meh about it in general. But! I opted to read this book as part of a reading challenge and figured it would at least be a quick read (in the event I didn't like it).
Anyhow, on to the review....
This book ended up being simply OK to me because I sort of averaged out the parts I really liked and the parts I really didn't like. For example, the parts about her dogs... very funny ...more

If you’ve never read Allie Brosh’s blog, go do so now. If you enjoy what you see, buy this book. I first came across her blog when she wrote her second piece on depression, and the moment it started getting better. Her combination of words and drawings convey perfectly what depression was like for her and it’s recommended reading for anyone struggling to understand a loved one who is suffering.
