As soon as I finished reading the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, my son excitedly handed me the second in the series and insisted I start reading it right away. How can you say no to an enthusiastic seven year old? I enjoyed Rodrick Rules more than the original Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. It focused more on Greg's relationship with his older brother Roderick than things going on in school. I'm not the target audience for this book, however in my opinion based on having read books 1 & 2, this series is mean-spirited and not particularly funny. Clearly most people do not agree with me, so I just have to point out that if you don't think it's funny to read about families and friends being mean to one another, then you will not like this book.
