While I was very interested in the story of the Van Gogh family, which extended way beyond Theo and Vincent I didn't love the way this book was written. It's written as 'galleries' instead of sections and smaller sections are given other painterly names. It's also written very simply although it's material is suitable for older young adults, maybe 8th grade or so, and the subject matter attests to that with talk of whorehouses and the diseases you might catch there.
