Just as gorgeous as the previous edition. The story is so complicated, I think I will need a second read to grasp it - but it is intriguing. The overwhelming majority of powerful characters are women - goddesses, empresses, witches, queens, and Maika herself - the uniter of bloodlines, the one who battles the monster that lives inside her (literally).
