A fun, if flawed, YA book. I thought that it was well written, and was willing to overlook some of the very unrealistic details. I did think that it was odd that every perilous situation was easily diffused "without any bloodshed or shots fired", as if the author wanted to write about pirates but then realized she didn't care that much about their bad deeds and just wanted to focus on the setup and the romantic myths of the lifestyle.
