What Members Thought
Although this is an interesting look into the way that an autistic savant's mind works, overall it lacked a strong narrative arc. I kept waiting for it to really pick up but it stayed pretty even-keel throughout. I wonder if the book was published mainly because its author was part of a documentary and so might have had some instant interest/recognition for some folks. This book can sometmes be a little frustrating to read (what might feel like inane details and a lot of ink for a tangent); however, it is chocked full of insights and a sense of the struggles those with Aspergers Syndrome face. Three cheers for Daniel Tammet for perservering!
This was a book I needed to read. It gave me so much insight into the world of someone with Ausbergers and extraordinary talent. The passages describing the beauty of numbers were amazing and will stay with me a long time.
