Perhaps it was not totally unexpected for an Ephron to publish a novel that could just as easily become a movie (and perhaps it will one day). Two married couples (and one preteen daughter) travel together to Italy for a getaway vacation and find themselves in the middle of high drama, murder and familial implosion. Not quite the great suspenseful thriller that it was billed as, yet I still liked the book. I wish I'd sat and read it in one or two days--that would have made the characters gel better I think. The whole premise of traveling to Europe as a couple with your ex boyfriend was so weird to me! Since the book was told from the perspective of all 4 main characters, there were times that it lost me or that I couldn't rely on that character's version of events. The big climax was a tad disappointing.

I was fortunate to win this book in a Goodreads giveaway...

I wanted to love this book, but unfortunately I did not. Frankly, I almost gave up on it a few times.
I felt it was slow in the first half and I could not find one thing l liked about any of the main characters. I enjoy reading about flawed people, but this group were so dysfunctional! I continued, and did enjoy the second half much more. Although not a favorite read, I am glad I did not give up on it.
