Jasmine "Jazz" Bashara was born and raised in Artemis, the first, and currently only, city on the Moon. She works as a porter and subsidizes her minimal income as a part-time smuggler. Although she is skilled in arranging transportation of contraband goods from Earth, she is an ethical smuggler, no drugs or weapons. Her side business provides her access to some of the wealthiest and most powerful citizens of Artemis. When businessman Trond Landvik offers her one million slugs (lunar currency) to ...more

Well, it wasn't 'a gripping, high-concept thriller' but it was pretty enjoyable. I rolled my eyes a couple of times at Jazz's asides which were totally unnecessary and detracted from the story flow. ...more

First off I want to thank you NetGalley and Crown Publishing for the ARC of Artemis by Andy Weir.

I was both excited and apprehensive about this book, I was so surprised by how much I loved The Martian that I kind thought the second book might not be as enjoyable. Thankfully I was wrong. Now, this would be a GREAT movie!

The plot was okay, but not even Rosario Dawson could make me believe Jazz was an actual woman

I absolutely loved The Martian and was really looking forward to what Andy Weir came up with next. Artemis is a science fiction caper story set in the only city on the moon. The narrator, Jasmine Bashara (Jazz), is a smuggler and is offered an opportunity to strike it rich if she can commit the perfect crime. Surprise, things don't go as planned.

I had two main issues with this book: first, Jazz is supposed to be 26 year old woman but speaks like a teenage boy. There is a fair amount of Mark Watn

Enjoyable, but if I didn't know better, I would absolutely have thought I was listening to a Hugh Howie book. Sometimes the technical descriptions got a little too long, but fun characters and story. ...more
