Thanks to the publisher for an advance reader's copy.

While it wasn't quite as satisfying as The Dry, I was still pretty enthralled with the mystery's premise. I read this on a crowded international flight and felt much more creeped out than I should with so many people within a foot of my personal space. I wish that Aaron Falk hadn't felt so flat, almost unnecessary, in this book, and I didn't find the ultimate solution as intriguing as the promise of the beginning, but the claustrophobia and t

I really like Jane Harper's style. The characters are believable, the plot is intense but not too complex, the action moves at just the right pace, and the ending feels good. Also, I think I've decided that I just really like books that take place in Australia. It's such an intriguing place. I think it's starting to creep up on my "need to visit" bucket list. Found myself pulled into this book right from the start!! Five women go on a 3 night backpacking adventure but only 4 survive. I felt like I was right on the hike with the women and as things started to unravel, I could not stop reading. I was panicking on their behalf! lol. It was thoroughly enjoyable read.

It was a exciting Who Done it story but felt end was predictable.

This was a decent mystery, but I did not enjoy it as much as the first book in the series. I found very few of the characters enjoyable to read about and I did not care about any of them. The actual outcome of the mystery made sense, but wasn't too obvious from the beginning. I liked being immersed into a different Australian environment (compared the first book). Overall, it was interesting mystery but I did not find any characters to care about. ...more

IF you can get beyond that total lack of preparation/back-up plan for these office workers on a retreat in the bush... then this is a well-crafted read.
