If you are overly sensitive, don’t read this book.
If you are extremely conservative, don’t read this book.
If you are triggered by child abuse and severely dysfunctional family dynamics, don’t read this book.
That all being said, I could not put this book down. Despite the very uncomfortable degree of dysfunction in the relationships in this book, I thought it was great.

I really enjoyed this book! I agree that the subject matter is not for everyone but I really liked the whole atmosphere of the story and how the timeline was handled. I really liked the main character and how her voice guided the story, although one of my favorite parts were the chapters from the different Roanoke girls' perspectives.

I was skeptical about this one because of the mixed reviews and although the story ended up being very disturbing, I liked it. The characters were all flawed, but in realistic ways, as we all are. The mystery was compelling and I liked how the story flip flopped between the past and the present.

This book was weeeeeird. I loved the writing style, I loved the jumping back and forth from then and now, but the concept - not so much. Great story either way.
