Nothing thrilling about this. Only mystery about it is discovering what happened to Lane cousin and discovering things about all the recent Roanoke girls. But as I kept reading I figured out everything before it's revealed.
Weird family secrets.
Nothing to brag out just Lane meeting her grandparents and cousin after her mother killed herself.
Predictable to me. I never connected with any character.
2 🌟. Sorry didn't see anything to brag about with this one. I need more thriller more mystery, more

So a couple warnings on this one...
If you are overly sensitive, don’t read this book.
If you are extremely conservative, don’t read this book.
If you are triggered by child abuse and severely dysfunctional family dynamics, don’t read this book.

That all being said, I could not put this book down. Despite the very uncomfortable degree of dysfunction in the relationships in this book, I thought it was great.

Every single character is so honestly fleshed out...good, bad, everything in between. Engel

I received this book as an Early Reviewer win and I just got around to reading this book. I kept putting it off because life got in the way or another book seemed more interesting. This time I picked this book up for a BINGO challenge I am doing and I am glad I chose this book to read for the free space.

This book started out slow for me until I really got to know the characters. You have this girl Lane who becomes an orphan after her mother's suicide, and learns that she has family in Kansas. S

This book dragged on and on with no real substance. The storyline could've been condensed and perhaps more facets of each character could be added in. It seemed as if the majority of characters were paper-cut moulds that fit certain bad-boy or bad-girl characteristics. Also, it seemed as if Lane's personality totally changed in the last chapter. All in all, I would file this under "beach reads". ...more

I was skeptical about this one because of the mixed reviews and although the story ended up being very disturbing, I liked it. The characters were all flawed, but in realistic ways, as we all are. The mystery was compelling and I liked how the story flip flopped between the past and the present.

Kind of contains a spoiler, but I think people should know the content because of triggers...

This book was amazing... truly depressing at times and majorly f*@& up but so well written that I found it hard to put it down. I recommend this to everyone that doesn’t have incest triggers.
