I will read a book here or there in the Historical Fiction genre, but I'm not a really big fan. I think YA Historical Fiction is definitely better than some adult HF. I guess that's because YA books tend to be a bit more on the imaginative side. And The Madman's Daughter was no different to me.

DNF. Ugh. I have read a lot of reviews that discussed the books weaknesses - slow and a lack of action, a tedious romance and awful love triangle, etc. I didn't mind these so much. For me, the biggest weakness was the writing. The main character's thoughts and dialogue felt forced and unrealistic. I'm dying to know what happens in the end, but I cannot bear wasting another 6 hours of my life listening to the main character's banal thoughts.
