I've read a fair amount of Jodi Picoult, and she's got a tried-and-true formula: pick a social issue, center a family and legal trial around the issue, and let the pot boil. My favorites by her so far have been My Sister's Keeper and Plain Truth- her later ones haven't appealed as much to me. This book, however, got me to blast through it in two days, neglecting husband and sleep.

Loved this book.... The audiobook is worth it! The music that Picoult created is a perfect companion to the story.
