I enjoyed this book. It took me a few years and a few tries to get into it, but I'm glad I finally finished it. (It's a long book. More than 900 pages. Not good for my short attention span.) Because of this book, when my "African American Experiences" professor complained about Cleopatra being portrayed in movies as a white woman I was able to raise my hand and say, "Um...Cleopatra was a Greek. Whatever she was, she wasn't black." I don't think I'll be passing that class. ...more

I love anything regarding Cleopatra and Rome and this book was no exception. Even with the length of the book I still wanted to read a thousand more pages when I was done. I rarely re-read books, but this will surely be one of them!
