A long and rewarding look at the vanities of a worldly existence, Vanity Fair has created one of the greatest female villains of fiction. Becky Sharp has the cold, calculating lack of human compassion found in Madame Defarge, self-interested pursuit of personal appetites of Madame Bovary, and polished and apparently innocent outward persona of Steinbeck's Cathy. ...more
