Doesn't matter how many times I read it, it's still amazing.

My son and I just finished this book although switched to the audio book version read by Stephen Fry (he has a great voice for audio books). Again, there is agreement among my family that this book was a good 100 pages too long. The endless chapters where the group is searching (do we really need something like six chapters of them searching and not finding anything? Isn't there a better way to show that time passes and the task is difficult?) and the long section with Snape's memories seem to b

It was 2000 when I first read Harry Potter. My friend Super Suz recommended the series to me but I put off reading it for ages. I wasn’t into reading much young adult stuff back then and my argument for not reading them was that I wasn’t interested in reading children’s book. How book-snobbish of me.
It was around the time the first film was coming out and I was hearing a lot about the controversy that was being stirred up over witchcraft and censorship. Censorship and banning books is one of my ...more

Finished this one early this morning. Woke at 4am with my neck bothering me, so grabbed some Tylenol and an ice pack and decided I might as well finish the final couple chapters before trying for a bit more sleep. Thank the gods it's a holiday! An enjoyable ending to the saga, even if I had guessed at many of the things that happened or were learned by Harry and friends. It was nice to get a peek at their lives years later, though there were a few people left out of the last chapter I would have

So sad that we made it to the end of the series. This was really well written. You can see how the whole series was thought out and a cohesive story. The details of the wizard in world are so vivid and don't contradict each other. The characters grow and develop! Excellent writing!!! I love how complex the characters are in this particular book.

I skipped a few books in the series... but when I saw the trailer for the 7th movie looked darker...I knew I wanted to read this BEFORE the movie. As a matter of pure pop culture interest I had to see what happens to Harry, Hermoine and Ron

I thought this was a bit slow at times, but couldn't put it down towards the end. I feel that the story was finished well and any sequels would spoil it.
