Around the Year Reading Challenge Item #38: A book about an anti-hero

This was a light read, but not shallow. It had just enough heart and smart cultural commentary to be substantive despite its sometimes breezy tone. I read this graphic novel to preview it's content for daughter. Content wise, I would let her read it, but it just annoyed me. I'm torn because I liked the overall premise of a sidekick helping a not-so-evil-supervillan, and I loved the supervillan-Blackheart, I also liked the story line in general. My book club was reading this one, so I went for a different format than the first time around and gave the audiobook version a try. I liked the full cast recording (I always do) and I'm impressed that publishers are adapting even books that rely heavily on visual elements to audio these days. Still, I was glad I had read the graphic novel first -- I think it might have been a little hard to follow if I didn't already know the story and have the visuals in my head from the graphic novel. I absolutely loved this book. The artwork was amazing and the character interactions were so cute. I loved the interplay between the two main characters. That ending made me want more though!
