Let me start by saying I finished this book in a day. One day. Yes...it's that good.

I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this book up for grabs and, having seen it on multiple "must read" lists, I snatched it up even though it didn't sound like my normal cup of tea. I was so glad that I did! I found this book interestingly written (I love non-traditional formats) and kept laughing and waiting for the next suprise out of Bernadette and Bee. This novel consists of emails to and from various people, narration, texts, letters, and more -- which I found a little hard to get used to at first but by the end, thoroughly enjoyed. The major players are intriguing and unusual, especially the title character Bernadette, who is the teenaged narrator's mother. This is one I am going to want to read again. Recommended! ...more

I kept debating the whole novel weather I wanted to rate this a two or a three. I didn't find myself really loving or getting close to any of the characters. I thought Bee was somewhat of a brat even though I related to her with my own heart condition. The story was a slow read for me and I thought it would be better. ...more
