I adored the delightful, imaginative Anne who sees beauty in everything. She captures the hearts of everyone, brings smiles to all faces. We follow her growing from a wild-eyed, innocent, dreaming 11-year old into a smart, accomplished and mature young woman. As adorable her faults are, we are both charmed and a bit sad as she grows out of them,

The perfect comfort read at the perfect time.
Despite the fact that this was my first time reading Anne of Green Gables, having missed it somehow in my childhood, I still felt a pleasant kind of nostalgia reading it. It reminded me of books that I did read and love as a child, like those by Laura Ingalls Wilder or Frances Hodgson Burnett. Anne of Green Gables fit right in for me among those stories, and gave me that old familiar pleasure of reading about the daily life of charming characters who live in beautiful countrysides.
