**2015 Reading Challenge W/Josh: #47 A Play**
This will always be one of my favorite stories of my childhood. It just brings back so many loving memories.

Another reread of this childhood favorite, which remains as lovely and perfect as ever.
I will note that I didn't love the narration of the audiobook. I expected something more from Rachel McAdams, but the narration felt flat, like how I, not an actress, would read something myself. However, this flatness did work well to contrast Anne's dialogue, who was more exuberantly read, from the people around her. ...more

Having never actually read this classic before, I chose it (along with the recently written, and by a different author, Before Green Gables) for the category of "A book and its prequel" for the 2016 PopSugar reading challenge. And let me tell you, I loved Anne of Green Gables! Just like the first time I read Little Women (which was like 5 years ago), I realized just what I've deprives myself of all these years. Anne is such a delightful character, and I'm glad she's now a part of my life. We'll

3 1/2 stars.
After hearing my wife rave about this for years, I decided to take the plunge (and no, she didn't threaten to divorce me if I didn't). On the whole, I thought it was enjoyable, even if I'm not the demographic that it's aimed towards.
The writing gets a bit flowery at times and Montgomery certainly loves to describe the nature on Prince Edward Island (which can get a bit tiresome), but the characters are well drawn and the dialogue is so sharp that its tartness and sweetness hold up 1 ...more

I don't even know how many times I read this book when I was a kid because I loved it so much. It's so nice to know that it is just as wonderful reading it as an adult. Rereading it was like seeing a best friend again after being apart for many years.

A classic. Who doesn't love Anne Shirley? Her impetuousness coupled with her wisdom, her passion for the beauty of the world and the people in it! She's one of the most endearing characters in all of literature.
I hadn't read this since my teenage years, though I've seen the movie enough times that it was entirely familiar to me (several passages from the movie, I realized, are lifted directly from the book). It was fun to revisit this one. I hadn't realized how many of the episodes are recounted ...more

I read all the "Anne" books as a young teenager; they were my favorites, only "Gone With the Wind" could compare! Have marked the others "to read" as I want to go back and re-read the whole series.

Listened to the audio production this go around, for a new experience. I am not as big of a fan of the audio but the story still remains a beloved classic in my eyes.
