Meh. I read the first three of these in 2 days. A bit bland and not really that interesting. I didn't like America or Maxon much and the whole concept is just bits taken from lots of other stories. But I was in the mood for bland, so it sort of worked.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I forgot all about this series. I had started a few years ago. As soon as I picked it up and started reading I was taken back to the dystopian world with America, Maxon, Celeste and the other girls from the Selection. I enjoyed how America grew and decided that she was going to fight for what she wants. I love how Prince Maxon and America are with each other. They are both young and have been through a lot. A wonderful and satisfying conclusion to a fabulous trilogy! I couldn't wait to read more about America and Maxon. The last 50-75 pages were riveting and I stayed up way past bedtime to finish the book because I had to know the ending! One of my favorite trilogies!

The entire series was very easy to read (or to listen to, in my case), however on the overall, the books were just meah. Felt very drawn out. I think this whole series could have been a duology, if not a stand-alone. Huge chunks of the story can be easily cut and tossed out and nothing will be missed.
I enjoyed The One the most out of all the books in The Selection series. It was by far the best written book of the three. Based on how the entire series turned out I'm far more inclined to recommend The Selection to others. Now I am debating reading the short stories...
