The second in the Hilary Tamar series. What a shame the author's untimely death means that there are only four to enjoy. Very erudite, witty and a delightful read. ...more

I really like the voice of the narrator, his/her friends, and the humor in the writing. The mystery is interesting but takes second place to the characters interactions. Julia is a treat as she bumbles her way into the bar, announced by the crash of fallen coat trees and the tinkling of broken glass.

Today I found out Sarah Caudell only wrote this 4 books and I feel so sad about it
For some reason I got confused and thought this was a 7 book series, and that there were more books by the author...

they are so good, the humor is just *chef kiss*

I love this series with its very English humour, arcane legal matters and intriguing cast of characters. In this case, the team all become involved with the changing of a will. And then the potential legatees start dying. Hilary Tamar is on the scene as the action moves to Greece where a suspicious boat accident is linked to the case. Great fun.

This just did not work for me. The first chapter was all about probate and entailments, which just went over my head, as I have no idea about either. Once we get to the main story, it did pick up, but I'm afraid I just don't like the main characters. I know a lot of people find this witty, but it is not the sort of wit which appeals to me. I also found there were too many coincidences taking place. The ending was a surprise, but by that time I didn't really care who the villain was. ...more
