This book is so powerful and masterfully written. Not only do you learn so much about Greek mythology, but the beautiful descriptions of motherhood broke my heart. This is a must-read for all women.

This was the BEST book I read all year! At the very top of my 2018 list!

Great modern epic

I love how this reads like an epic poem, and yet still feels modern. The writing is beautifully I descriptive and gives great characterization to each god and hero as soon as you meet them.

I've read or am at least familiar with a lot of the mythological stories referenced here, but seeing them from this perspective as Circe weaves in and out of the events was really fun.

If there is a more perfect symbiosis between book and narrator, I haven't experienced it within recent memory. Perdita Weeks does a fantastic job, highlighting Miller's skill with word choice and phrase-ology. If you'll pardon the pun: it was magical. I had a lot of driveway moments where I had to wait until there was a good place to stop. But mostly I didn't want to stop at all. ...more
