This story is very intense. While the author talks about zen and motorcycle maintenance, the book isn't really about either. We follow a narrator who is on a motorcycle journey with his son and some friends.

From the onset, I did not care for the narrator. I can tell that we wouldn't really be friends in real life and his tone, while trying to be non-judgmental, is terribly opinionated. I can't think of another book that immediately after finishing, I looked forward to reading again in the future.

I don't think there are books that are for everyone. But if there are, this isn't one of them.

I'm reading other reviews and seeing that some are put off by the author's arrogance, among other things. I'm easily perturbed when I sense arrogance and I never did in this book.
