Kind of disappointing for a Kimberly Brubaker Bradley book. I felt the story and characters were superficial and didn't give me the deep emotions the characters of The War that Saved My Life did. I felt conflicted by the story's progression and misunderstood the Catherine de' Demici/Huguenots plotline. I also just felt it was a chore to want to read.

This middle grade World War II story will give a different perspective than most. Set in France and dealing with hiding and escape, readers will also get good messages about not blindly believing what you're told about an entire group of people. Fast-paced - I didn't want to quit reading!
