4.0 to 4.5 stars. This is the first book in the phenomenal Vorkosigan Saga and concerns the first meeting and ensuing relationship of Miles' parents, Aral Vorkosigan and Cordelia Naismith. I thought this was one of the more important installments in so far as it explores the mutual respect and love between Aral and Cordelia and provides some background on the extraordinary people so critical to the life of Miles Vorkosigan. Highly recommended for all fans of the Miles books. ...more

Fun easy read, with some cool futuristic ideas. Looking forward to the rest of the omnibus.

I have read the Vorkosigan Saga several times, except the newest book CryoBurn Vorkosigan Saga 14. The entire series is compelling epic space opera. This time I am reading them again in the order of internal chronolog, before reading Cryoburn.

Shards of Honor is the 1st book of the main series. It tells the story of how Cordelia Naismith and Arel Vorkosigan, the parents of the series protagonist, Miles Vorkosigan, met, fell in love and the events that allowed them to get married.

Taken by itself

A very good tale with a grown up love story mixed in.
Cordelia Naismith from Beta colony and Aral Vorkosigan from Barrayar come together under bad circumstances and first come to respect each other and then slowly fall in love.
