I thought this was a duology so I was shocked by the cliffhanger at the end of this book. I would do pretty much anything to get an early copy of the third book.... this is how addicted I am to this world... this story and the romance between Violet and Xaden.

I cannot recommend these books enough. They are long, full of action and ups and downs but we also get all the scenes we hope for and more. I am so glad these books are long because I could spend my whole life in this world.

In the second book of The Empyrean series, Violet Sorrengail is facing even more dangerous trials, and a new Vice Commandant who wants nothing more than to see her dead.

My Grade: B ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The dragons! The twists! The villains! The heroes!...and the Xaden!

More consistent than book one- no boring middle bit. But I didn’t really know what was happening most of the time - fly here, fly there, fly back, walk a bit as it’s too dangerous to fly, fly somewhere else, read a lot of books uncover lost magic - but only sort of !

Rating this based off my enjoyment of the story, not necessarily the writing lol (Although I don’t think it was any worse than the first book). Although violet and Xadens arguing in this book gets pretty annoying at certain points, I liked the story and the new characters. Excited for the third book!

It becomes boring some times, the characters like to repeat themselves all the time, as if the author is paid by the word count. It would be nice if there was an editor who would just cut some of the repeated sentences out.

I think Rebecca believes her readers all have alzheimers.

The characters have the same personality, they all crack the same jokes and it's really hard to tell them apart.

Long and repetitive. I was sick of them and the longest argument ever. I was sick of reading mint and leather, so fucking beautiful. The relationship with violet and xaden seemed juvenile. But I did love the relationship with Tairn, and Andarna, it had me laughing, Tairn having to parent an adolescent/teenager😂😂😂

I wasn't bored, but I did see every trope coming from afar, and I knew who was going to sacrifice themselves at the end and how. I'll have to take a breather before reading Onyx Storm, I think. This one ended on a too depressing note to dive straight into the next book. ...more
