Nimona by Noelle Stevenson tells the tale of Nimona (shockingly) who wanders into the life of Lord Blackheart, the kingdom's villain. She is sparky, furious and hyper and wants to help Blackheart in his destruction, but when the so called "good-guys" show a less than pretty side to their characters, Nimona and Lord Blackheart must decide how to handle things.

I absolutely loved this super cute graphic novel.
The character feelz!!!!!
So Ballister Blackheart is a super villain. Or is he?
He acquires a sidekick. The lovely, mysterious, enthusiastic Nimona.
Shenanigans ensue.
What an amazing adventure that super tugged on my heartstrings.

This was quite a fun and refreshing graphic novel. Even though the storyline is a little dark (Poor Nimona being a beast and all) there is a lighthearted feel in the telling. Basically a villain is offered the chance to get a sidekick. Enter Nimona. But Nimona is more than Blackheart could ever have expected and you have to wonder who is really calling the shots in their relationship.

Okay...this just became my favorite graphic novel thus far. Nimona is an AWESOME and hilarious character and I loved the brooding yet patient personality of Blackheart. The juxtaposition of the two of them made for a bit of an Odd Couple that I found raucously hilarious.
The art style is cute, but sleek and perfectly colored. There were perhaps a few extraneous fight scene panels, but I was cool with it.

I only just started reading a few graphic novels just to see if I liked them or not and I actually did. Nimona made me want to see what happens to the characters. I had guessed one part of the plot and was happy when it actually happened. Not sure if I will keep up with reading many of this style of book but it was a fun change from the regular book.
