I couldn’t do this! I got 21% in but I realised I was squirming and cringeing as I listened- the story was ok- not original but ok- it was the romance or at least the romance in Tessa’s head that literally turned my stomach. Codependency is not ok to model to young impressionable teenagers.

I'm so happy Kemmerer has a new series! I thought A Curse So Dark and Lonely was really good and have been looking forward to this book. It was interesting, well paced, and had a great enemies to lovers theme. It has alternating points of view between the main characters and felt like it flew by.

Yo. Why did this book sit on my shelf for so long?! It was sooo good!

Robin Hood meets Princess Trials with enemies to lovers trope. 2 POV and I loved every second of these tortured souls!

Tessa’s parents weren’t killed in front of her for treason, but they were just trying to help their community. So she takes up their spot. Corrick does everything to protect his older brother, the king, I clueing becoming someone he doesn’t want to.
