Ok don't hate me .. but I didn't love this book. There were a lot of ups and downs and there were parts that I loved, but honestly, I just don't like Nesta so having an entire book devoted to her was too much. And this book was looonnnggg. So much dragging out of scenes that didn't really need to be there - including the extremely long sex scenes. We get it, Cassian roars, move on.

Ok so here we go

What I liked about it:
- Gwyn & Emerie. Hello new and amazing characters. I loved these 3.5 Stars

Ok so here we go

What I liked about it:
- Gwyn & Emerie. Hello new and amazing characters. I loved these what these two brought to the story. I even liked their friendship with Nesta. With them, she was someone I could stand. the entire Valkyrie storyline was interesting and I hope gets explored more.
- Eris. He seems to be a very complex character and while Maas continues to just keep him at arms reach, I want to know more about him and his struggles. But on a negative, I am tired of everyone treating him like shit. Like you wanted an alliance and yes, it's with someone you don't get along with. But he's making an effort, why can't you?
- Exploration of loneliness. Ok here's where I liked the Nesta storyline - aside from the Valkyrie. I'm glad that mental illness is being spoken of more and more in books. Maas really digs into the isolation and darkness that loneliness can bring.
- Cassian. Finally getting to know more about him. While I was getting annoyed with his caveman act with Nesta, I liked finally getting more backstory on his life and seeing how he viewed his family.

What I didn't like:
- The pacing. There were so many parts that dragged. This book took me 6 days to read and I felt each one of those days.
- The sex scenes. Again, I don't mind sex scenes and there are many that I enjoy. But something about the ones Maas writes just don't work for me. And also, if you want me to root for two characters to be together, having them just have sex to show their connection will not work. I need more than the superficial.
- the 1 dimensional characters. Maas has a way of not really developing characters who aren't the main point of the story. Mostly Elain who is nothing more than a pretty prop. We don't need to wait until these characters get their own books before they have depth. It's like she can't focus on more than two or three characters at a time which is a problem when you have an ensemble.
- how Rhys and Feyre are always so perfect in everything they do. I love them so much but everything always works out perfectly for them. Just gonna leave that alone
- Nesta. I'm sorry, your pain does not excuse 4 books of shitty ass behavior. While I understand her a little more and even applaud her for finally facing her trauma and actions. Some of what she has done was just inexcusable. And none of it makes how she treated Feyre before Tamlin okay. I will never 100% like her and i really hope we have no more books that are fully focused on her.

So overall, I enjoyed this book. This series is a very steady good for me. I honestly think it peaked at the second book and nothing will top that, so that's kind of a hard thing to pass but I am curious where she takes this next because of all the things set up here. ...more

A Court of Silver Flames Review on K-Books

There are no words I can ever say that will put my love of this book to justice. I personally wasn’t expecting all that much from A Court of Silver Flames. While I didn’t hate Nesta as some did, I didn’t particularly like her either, but as it is a book by Sarah, and I’ve loved all of her previous books, I just had to read it. I am so very glad that I did. Oh. My. Fucking. God! I was completely and utterly blown away by this book. It was nothing like what I was expecting… it was so, so much more. I loved every single, heartbreaking moment of this book. It was… in a word… perfection!

A Court of Silver Flames is very, very different from the previous books in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I was expecting that as it was a change in main character. However, I just was not expecting it to be this deep, meaningful and heartbreaking journey into Nesta’s mental health! I think anyone who has ever struggled with mental health before will be absolutely obsessed and in love with this book. It was such a beautiful journey!

Nesta is such a broken person and the self loathing that she goes through absolutely broke my heart. A Court of Silver Flames isn’t a plot heavy book. As a plot-driven reader, if I had heard this before reading it, I would have worried. Because I can’t cope with slow plot books. But the focus on Nesta’s mental health meant so much to me that I didn’t even notice. This book is a gorgeous journey of mental health awareness, healing, female empowerment and learning to love yourself first before anything else. This book broke my very soul and slowly put it back together again. I was sobbing so hard at one point that I couldn’t even see the words on the page. Nesta is officially my favourite Sarah J Maas character, I love her so much! She is absolutely my spirit animal.

A Court of Silver Flames was everything to me! I adored every single soul bearing, heartbreaking moment! This is without a doubt my favourite Sarah J Maas book to date. It was absolute perfection to me! This book is a heavy read but the ending makes it so worth the emotions that you will go through. I loved every single second of it and I am left dying for and theorising about the next book! Let the epic book hangover commence!

It took me over two years to read this book and I have no clue why. I was eager to dive into Cassian and Nesta's love story. I loved all the angst and little moments that they had throughout the series thus far. Perhaps I was a little nervous because when it really came down to it I just didn't like Nesta. I loved this book and Nesta's whole healing arc and the romance between her and Cassian.

TBH, this book kind of feels like SJM writing a fanfic of her own world. And I am not even mad about it.

Feyre is fine but dude. Rhys is kind of an asshole in this book.

I have a lot of questions. Like you know that thing where the reader thinks of a solution but the characters can't. I had a lot of that going on. I can't really talk about it without getting spoilery.
