This is a darling story about a man who is sent to investigate an orphanage for magical children who takes the time to look beyond just the surface and see all there is to see inside of the place. Linus has been content with his life of work and going home to his cat. Then he ordered to go and investigate another orphanage, but this one is a level 4. Nothing can prepare him for what he will find when he arrives, including one of the children who is surrounded by a dark cloud by his name alone. B

3.5 stars rounded up. I enjoyed this but think the massive hype did make my experience not as wonderful as expected. I thought it was fine overall but not a new favorite. I loved the children they were by far my favorite part. Chauncey and Thalia especially, I enjoyed every single part with them, but I truly loved all the magical children and their eccentricities. Linus was an excellent perspective to be reading from and learning with, and Arthur wise good in concept and his care for the childre
