When a book is highly praised, I tend to get somewhat sceptical. Too often I found myself disappointed by too high expectations. No need for that here.
what an amazing, thrilling, moving read! Worth 4.5 stars.
The start of the novel was a bit slow, but soon it was anything but slow and the reader is in the midst of a lot of turmoil, both in the book as in him/herself.
Personally I think it should be a read for students at a certain age as it gives an important message without being pushing too muc

Starr Carter does her best to balance her two worlds. Attending a prep school where she is one of the only black students, she is one person so as not to seem to 'ghetto', but when she is in her own neighborhood she is another. This has been one of the best books I’ve read all year and I really can’t wait for the author’s next book!

What a compelling story on race, class, and hip hop culture. I feel like this story can and should be read by everyone regardless of your racial background. I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s writing style with enough detail so the story and settings come to life, and just the right amount of character development so everyone from Starr to Mr. Lewis to Maya and her mom feel real. This is a g

With so many instances of an innocent black person being killed by police lately, especially teens, this really put things in perspective, especially for someone who doesn't know what it's like to live in these situations. This book made me outraged, depressed, and want to do som

There are honestly no words that will do this book justice. It is one of the most moving and powerful books I have ever read. Angie Thomas brought the issue of police brutality, racism, and more to life. This is an important book the DEMANDS to be read by everyone
