I've gone back and forth on what to rate Heartless. Overall the story was well written and I loved the creativeness to how Marissa Meyer explained The Queen of Hearts past and how Catherine became the way she was. She was a victim of a love lost in a horrible way and it twisted her from a carefree girl who had dreams of owning her own bakery with her best friend Mary Anne to the ruthless Queen who's infamous and favorites words of "Off With Their Head" that most of us have read about in Alice's ...more

I'm conflicted on this one so I'm settling on 3 stars.

This one took me absolute AGES to read. I kept picking it up, only getting through a chapter and putting it back down. Which is surprising, because I love Alice in Wonderland retellings. But I think this one took a lot of liberties with the story and almost made it unrecognizable. And it definitely bogged down in the details.
