All the faerie stars AGAIN!! This was perfect! The intrigue, the backstabbing, the lying, the lying without lying....the dynamic between Cardin and Jude, all of it. There is nothing like the moment you start reading a very anticipated book and you fall into the magic all over again. It is priceless. Now I almost wish I could unread it so I could have those moments all over again.

Picking up months after the events of The Cruel Prince. Cardan is sitting on the throne with Jude pulling strings. Jude soon finds out just how hard it is to hold onto the power that she has fought for. She fights to keep that power as the game of politics move forward.

4 stars. So much better than The Cruel Prince. Where that one was a lot of world building, this one is a lot more action and politics which I loved. So many twists and turns and betrayals. I feel like nothing is actually what it seems and there is a lot of smoke and mirrors going on with this series.

Actual Rating: 4.5 stars.
One of the best Young Adult Fantasy series that I have read in a very long time. I devoured it.
Very interesting, very engaging, with complex and entertaining storyline and characters. Not a dull moment. With no predictability here, this series kept me immersed on the story since the very beginning of the first book all the way to the end.
I completely recommend it.
On a personal note, I would have preferred this book as a new adult fantasy series, some adult content her ...more

My expectations weren't very high based upon other reviews I had heard, but I was pleasantly surprised. Some things were a bit obvious but I was surprised by a few things which is always nice. I am excited to see what Jude does next.
