While I did like this book, it definitely suffers a little bit from second book syndrome. For one, the Darkling is absent for the majority of the book physically. Like what the heck! I want to see more Alina/Darkling so I can make my mind up about the two of them.

Siege and Storm takes off a couple months after the events of Shadow and Bone. Alina and Mal have been on the run and made it across the True Sea. But the threat of the Darkling is ever present. One wrong move could send them back into

All apart from the first third of this book was actually so boring. I loved the introduction of Nikolai (finally!) and getting to know Sturmhond! He gives off such Jack Sparrow and Damon Salvatore vibes, he was an instant favourite! Alina just continues to drive me up the wall, and her relationship with Mal just made me insane. But honestly, what I couldn't stand the most was how there was almost a love rectangle going on with such a 'plain boring mousy girl'... Uuuuuugh. I raged at Alina so muc ...more

I just don't know how I feel about this book. I loved loved loved the first book when I read it. But looking back on it, I don't love it as much. And so I really delayed reading this second book. I waited until the day before it was due at the library to start it. And I had a hard time getting into it.

The beginning is really hard to read. It makes me nervous and anxious and I don't like it. It's uncomfortable to read. Then the middle gets better, but Mal and ALina both are being really whiny and

Siege and Storm Review on K-Books

"Anything worth doing always starts as a bad idea."

The Grisha books have been sat on my shelf for such a long time and after starting it earlier this year as part of a series readalong I was completely in awe of this amazing series. Following Shadow and Bone, I couldn't wait to get started on the second book in the series. Siege and Storm was even better than Shadow and Bone. I loved every single moment of it.

Siege and Storm picks up exactly where Shadow and

Ohhhhh my goooooodddddddd. I did not expect this book to be so dark. It's such a change from the last one. Which makes it even better. The fact Alina is going through all this crap and she's changing because of it is so nice to see. She has worries and doubts about what she did and what she's planning on doing. If anyone asks me what character evolution looks like I will shove this series at them (Let's be honest, I'll shove this series at them regardless of them asking). People change and it's ...more

Re-read this one for the first time and it's just so fun.

So much angst. I'm here for it.

Still so in love with these characters, although I will say Mal is not a fave. But oh well (I think they have such better characterization of him in the Netflix show).

Will always hold this series in a special place in my heart.

I love a good epic tale and the Grisha saga is one that fits that bill nicely. As a second book, this still left me wanting for more.
