What Members Thought
Long have I looked for a book that was about gay characters that wasn't thinly veiled pornography. Who knew that it was published in 1948? I'm astonished that it was published at all. The depiction of being gay as being "normal" then was ground breaking, of course. The story itself was wrenching but the writing was marvelous. This is the first book by Gore Vidal that I've read and I've always heard what a great writer and wit he was. Looking forward to exploring more of his work.
