What do you even say about a book like this. It feels epic, huge and intense. Fred Lemish’s experience as an odd-man-out gay man among other gay men feels, in hindsight, like a herald of the coming age recognizing the end of his own era...the last night of utter carnal delights on Fire Island before the coming of AIDS. The last ten pages of this novel comprise maybe the best ending of a book I’ve ever read. So why not 5 stars? Having to wade through so many minor characters’ digressions. There a ...more
