The first of my McCrum reads in the 100 Greatest Works of Fiction/English Language.
I'm getting my Goodreads account going and writing this "review" 18 months and numerous books on the McCrum list farther down the road. It required a different frame of mind to read and I can appreciate the effect this book had on so many authors. Glad I read it and realize that it's the foundation for much great literature.

Shelves: religious
I can see why this would be influential, being a religious story published in the middle of all that religious turmoil of the 1600s. But I found it to be overly preachy (especially when the flawed Christian is lecturing similarly flawed characters about how they'll never make it to heaven)and difficult to get through. ...more

My God, I have to admit that I read this book really really fast because it's boring to death. I do not say that this book is not famous because it is and in that years was surely a big innovation, but I´m so happy that they move on ;)

Dio santo che palle, questo libro mi ha quasi ucciso di noia. Non dico che non sia giustamente famoso per il tipo di novitá che ha portato a quei tempi, sono solo felice che siano andati avanti ;)
