I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was long, but so engaging and well-written. It was set on the Korean island of Teju (I will check my spelling later--since I listened to it on audio, I did not get to see the words/names), a place where haenyeo (women who dive deep into the sea to collect seafood to support their families) hold incredible autonomy and share a powerful sense of community. As always I enjoyed the writing of Lisa See. I always enjoy historical fiction and learning about regions and cultures I know very little about it.
