I love this book. Erik Larson does an amazing job of weaving all the perspectives of those who were involved int he sinking of the Lusitania. I found the WWI facts interesting and all of the side stories of different passengers as well as the story of the submarine that fired the torpedo. The audio reader was Scott Brick who I think has an amazing voice. Great history read. (Social studies book club)

I listened to Dead Wake and found it compelling, well-written, and increasingly horrifying. Larson did a great job of thoroughly, if not always at a quick pace, setting the stage for the reader to understand the complexity of international relations in Europe, the many issues facing President Woodrow Wilson, the various interesting people aboard the Lusitania, and a bit about the nefarious Schwieger. This book is primarily about the sinking of the Lusitania but the author brings in information about shipping in 1915, the captain of the Lusitania, the code-breaking of Room 40 (British Naval Intelligence), President Wilson's personal life, details about U-Boats, and more. This is the 1st WW1 book I've read that gave me a clear picture of this time and how the US got into the war.
