despite feeling like a transition book in a trilogy (which, tbf, it totally is), this was GREAT and i loved it. except for the parts that broke my heart -- but i even loved that.
i am not a sci-fi fan at all but i read hunger games and liked it and was intrigued enough to want to do book 2...i am so glad i did...kept me engaged every moment...was listening to it on audiobook and found myself sitting in the driveway to listen longer...now i have to wait until august 24th for the finale...argh!
More like 3.5 stars. I liked the first book better, but I did manage to finish this book in 6 hours, so that's saying something there. I liked how Katniss developed as a character and seemed more sophisticated, but this definitely feels like a bridge that's needs to be crossed rather than a standalone story.

The second book in the Hunger Games series - was very good! Got a little slow in the middle but picked up QUICK! i really like this series - waaay better than Twilight.
One of the best sequels I have ever read. This is as good or better than the first book, The Hunger Games, and I may die of impatience before the third book comes out.
I'm glad I read this because it got me to the third book, Mockingjay, which is worth the read.

These books are addictive, but Suzanne Collins needs to cool it on the ellipses . . . It seems that every other sentence ends like this . . . It gets kind of annoying . . .
