This second volume in The Hunger Games Trilogy has everything that I thought was missing from the first book. It is the perfect blend of the post-apocalyptic environment, further explanation of Capital and the Districts, more of the history, and just enough of the games to make it exciting. I liked how they treated the games more here and I felt it was a far richer experience overall.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I did the first book, but then again, I didn't really now what to expect out of the first book, except that it was good and had a pretty decent story and was really addictive. But this one I sort had an idea of what the story would be like and felt that played with my head more than the first book. I hate to get all Mom on this book but damn it is violent! I can't imagine my sweet kid reading about all the death and sufferning until junior high but I hear there are kids in 4th and 5th grade reading the series. Everyone knows junior high is the right time to learn about death and suffering! ;)
