I reread this because I heard an author talk about it. Looking forward to the other two books. There is a quiet comfort with this book.

Beautifully written. I love this passage in particular talking about his son....

"All of that is fine, but it's your existence I love you for, mainly. Existence seems to me now the most remarkable thing tabs could ever be imagined." ...more

A powerful testament to Faith and love, and the sweet imperfections that make us all interesting. I had to work hard to keep up with the author here, but my muscles appreciated the effort because they were richly rewarded. I'm very much looking forward to discussing this one with my book group. ...more

I gave up - Judy, maybe I should have read your comment and hung on. It was just so so slow, and while it was ok I never felt compelled to pick it up and continue. I had it from the library and it was already a week over-due so I took it back tonight. Perhaps I will check it out again and try at a later time.

The kind of simple, conversational prose found in this book is exceedingly difficult to pull off as naturally as the author does here, all while deftly exploring big themes of righteousness, duty, family, and forgiveness.
