I really enjoyed the beauty of this book. The story follows two children who's lives intertwine: Marie-Laure a Parisian blind girl who lives with her father, a museum locksmith; and Werner, a German orphan who is very smart with an innate sense of engineering, the drive to escape his coal town existence, and a sister, Jutta, who is his moral compass. This is a book I might have liked more if I read it under different circumstances. I think on a plane or long trip with lots of long hours of un interrupted reading I would have really loved it. But as it is reading 30 min here and there I just never got into it enough. The writing was beautiful, and I was interested in the characters and story but not captivated by it.
