This was a genuinely sweet, albeit sad, representation of high school friendship. Green did a wonderful job of showing the realities of high school. The characters all seemed like real teenagers with issues that teenagers have.
There were times that I laughed out loud, and times that I cried like a baby. Another book well done, Mr. Green.

I have now read three John Green books, in this order: The Fault in Our Stars, An Abundance of Katherines, and Looking for Alaska. It just so happens that I also prefer them in that order. Alaska is another great read, as all of Green's novels are, but I have been so spoiled by Fault that the other two just can't measure up. Get your tissues out when you read this one, folks.

John Green has become one of my favorite writers.
I found some of the characters not all that believable, but I still found the story enjoyable.
I have read two John Green's books. Neither of them would ever be considered a comedy. Both have a love story within them. Just like living with teenagers, there are good, happy parts and there are tragic, manic parts.

I figured out what was going on "after" very early into the "after" and then spent the rest of the book screaming at Pudge & the Colonel for not figuring it out. while a good book, I wasn't nearly as impressed with this book as The Fault in Our Stars. ...more
